4 Person Relay Course

START LAPS 2-4 is inside the Relay Transition area within the Tubman Garrett parking lot.

RELAY LAP 1: Turn left into the parking lot at Tubman-Garrett Riverfront Park.  Go through the lot and make a left onto the RiverWalk.

RELAY LAPS 2-4: From the Relay Transition Area, immediately make a left onto the RiverWalk, taking caution of any merging marathon runners.

All LAPS: Continue to the end of the RiverWalk.  Make a left off the RiverWalk between the EDiS and Amtrak buildings onto N. Poplar Street.  Proceed one block to E. Front Street.  Make a right onto E. Front Street.  Run past the warehouses and Christina River Park to E. Fourth Street.  Make a left onto the right lane of E. Fourth Street and run back towards N. Walnut Street.  Across from the Wilmington Police Department parking lot, make a right and a left into the small WHA Apartment parking lot and proceed the one half block to N. Walnut Street.  Make a right onto N. Walnut Street.  Proceed in the right lane of N. Walnut Street to E. 16th Street.

Make a left onto the left lane of E. 16th Street.  Stay to the left of the small road island and cross into the left lane of the N. Market Street bridge.  After crossing the bridge, make a left onto N. Park Drive.  Proceed along the park; go past the Brandywine Zoo and across N. Van Buren Street, to the end of N. Park Drive.  Before the Brandywine Park Condominiums, make a left and carefully cross the swinging wooden foot bridge.  Turn left onto the jogging path and head back downtown. Follow the jogging path until its exit at N. Adams Street.  Make a 180 degree right turn onto N. Adams Street and proceed up along the winding road across N. Van Buren Street to Lovering Avenue.

At Lovering Avenue, make a right and proceed 100 yards to Kentmere Parkway.  Make a right onto Kentmere Parkway and proceed to the Relay Turnaround Cones before the Augustine Cutoff overpass.

Return to Lovering Avenue.  Make a left onto Lovering Avenue and a left onto S. Park Drive.  Proceed down S. Park Drive, crossing N. Van Buren Street, to King Street. Make a right onto the left lane of N. King Street and proceed on N. King Street up past Rodney Square and down towards MLK Boulevard. Make a right onto MLK Boulevard, proceed one block, and turn left onto S. Market Street.  Proceed under the AMTRAK overpass and follow the instructions below.

NOTE – All runners will use the “YELLOW” road markings until you reach the end of N. King Street and make the right onto East Front Street (MLK BlVD).

RELAY LAPS 1-3: As you head down N. King Street towards MLK Blvd and your LAP FINISH, begin looking for the “ORANGE” road markings.  As you turn right onto East Front Street (MLK Blvd), stay in the middle.  The Half Marathoners will be on your LEFT (GREEN Markings) and the Marathoners will be on your RIGHT (YELLOW Markings). The Half Marathoners will enter the FINISH chute and proceed to the FINISH banners. The marathoners will stay outside of the coned lanes and head onto the RiverWalk heading towards the Riverfront Market.

Relay Laps 1-3: stay inside your “ORANGE” coned lane and proceed into the Tubman Garrett parking lot.  Caution: look out for merging marathon runners coming across S. Market Street from the first section of the RiverWalk.  Cross the timing mats in the front of the parking lot and find a safe spot to exchange your timing chip with your team mate.

RELAY LAP 4: as you proceed down N. King Street and make the right onto East Front Street (MLK Blvd), you should move to the LEFT and follow the “GREEN” course markings for the FINISH.  LAP 4 runners should enter the FINISH CHUTE and proceed to the FINISH Banners.
