Could be Delaware’s most scenic half marathon:

The marathon course consists of two half marathon loops. Both 13.1 mile loops take you from the Wilmington Riverfront through beautiful Brandywine Park, along Kentmere and Bancroft Parkways, and through the 40 Acres, Wawaset Park and Little Italy neighborhoods of Wilmington before returning via the Wilmington park system and past Rodney Square.

The four person relay course consists of four loops of 6.55 miles each starting at the Riverfront, and running on the marathon / half marathon course, before turning around on Bancroft Parkway, just before Shallcross Avenue (new).

The eight person relay course consists of eight loops of 3.275 miles each starting at the Riverfront and running on the marathon / half marathon course before turning around at the end of the N. Market Street bridge.

Yes, the Delaware Marathon™ is a USATF certified Boston Marathon Qualifier. Historically, 12% of our marathon field has qualified for Boston.

New for 2014: The City of Wilmington’s closure of the swinging bridge over the Brandywine River has necessitated a minor course change.  Please view the updated course maps and descriptions for the details.  Essentially, we are adding a mile to the front end of the marathon/half marathon to accommodate the route lost due to the bridge closure.  The 4P relay runners will proceed beyond their traditional turnaround on the continuation of S. Park Drive to the new turnaround on Bancroft Parkway.  These changes do not affect the 8P Relay.
