2009 Delaware Marathon – 6.55 Mile (Team Relay) Course Description

 

 

LAPS 1-4 = 6.55 Miles.  START LINE is on Rosa Parks Drive, just off S. Market Street, adjacent to the entrance of the parking lot at Tubman Garrett Riverfront Park.  At the entrance to the surface parking lot at Tubman-Garrett Riverfront Park, make a left and another immediate left onto the second section of the Riverwalk.  Continue to the end of the Riverwalk, making a left between the EDiS and Amtrak buildings onto N. Poplar Street.

 

On N. Poplar Street, proceed one block to E. Front Street.  Make a right onto E. Front Street and run past Christina River Park to E. Fourth Street.  Make a left onto E. Fourth Street and run back towards N. Walnut Street.  Make a right into the WHA Apartment parking lot and proceed one block to N. Walnut Street.  Make a right onto N. Walnut Street and proceed in the right lane of N. Walnut Street across town to E. 16th Street.  

 

Make a left onto the left lane of E. 16th Street.  Cross N. Market Street and onto S. Park Drive.  Proceed across N. Van Buren Street and along S. Park Drive to Lovering Avenue. 

 

Make a right onto Lovering Avenue and proceed one block to Kentmere Parkway.  Make a right onto Kentmere Parkway. Proceed on Kentmere Parkway towards the Delaware Art Museum.  Before the Delaware Art Museum, make a left onto N. Bancroft Parkway.  Between Shallcross and Gilpin Avenues, run around the turnaround cones and return to Kentmere Parkway via N. Bancroft Parkway. 

 

Make a right back onto Kentmere Parkway to Lovering Avenue.  Make a left back onto Lovering Avenue to S. Park Drive.  Make a left back onto S. Park Drive, crossing N. Van Buren Street to King Street. 

 

Make a right onto the left lane of N. King Street.  Proceed on N. King Street past Rodney Square to MLK Boulevard.  Make a right onto MLK Boulevard, proceed one block, and turn left onto S. Market Street.  Proceed under the AMTRAK overpass and immediately turn left into the FINISH LINE chutes at the entrance to Tubman Garrett Riverfront Park.
